ELPI, Suspension Rate & Chronic Absenteeism (2022–2025) and Science (2025) = official. These come directly from CDE's own Dashboard indicator data files (the same files CDE/RCOE use to build the Dashboard), including CDE's own tier, change level and n — nothing here is recalculated by Kern KiDS. 2022 is the first year in this data and has no prior year to compare against, so it shows no change arrow. Long-Term EL wasn't broken out as its own row for ELPI/Suspension/Chronic until 2024, so it's blank for 2022–2023. Science isn't available in a comparable form before 2025 (see Trend/Grid notes).
Cell color = Status + Change, not Status alone. The tier letter in parentheses (e.g. “(VH)”) reflects current-year Status only. The background color is CDE's own “Five-by-Five” grid result, which jointly weighs Status and the year-over-year Change — so a group with a bad Status but a big improvement can show a better color than its letter alone would suggest (or vice versa), exactly matching the official report. For ELPI/Susp/Chronic/Science this comes from CDE's own precomputed color field (2023–2025); for ELA/Math 2025 it's sampled directly from the official RCOE PDF's rendered colors (its text layer doesn't carry color, so this is the only way to get CDE's real grid output instead of falling back to Status alone). A plain, uncolored value means CDE assigned no color for that cell (student population didn't meet the size CDE requires for coloring), not that it was omitted. 2022, and all ELA/Math years without an official Dashboard release, predate/lack this data, so those fall back to Status alone.
ELA & Math, 2025 = official (values and colors both transcribed/sampled directly from the RCOE Dashboard Group Report PDF); 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2026 = based directly on CDE's official CAASPP Smarter Balanced research files, since CDE has not itself published an official ELA/Math Dashboard release for those years yet: Distance from Standard (DFS) is each grade's mean scale score — from CDE's official CAASPP research file for that year — minus the official Level 3 ("Standard Met") cut score, averaged across tested grades and weighted by student count, using CDE's official DFS status-color thresholds. Every input number is CDE's own official test data, run through CDE's own published formula; the one thing it isn't is CDE's own compiled output, since the official Dashboard also applies participation-rate and continuous-enrollment adjustments this report does not reconstruct, so these years' n and DFS can differ slightly from what an eventual official release would show.
Graduation Rate and CCI are always blank: Greenfield Union is a K–8 district and does not report them. The DA (Differentiated Assistance) tracker under each group name (2023–2025) is transcribed verbatim from the official report, not calculated here — DA identification uses CDE's own business rules, not the LCFF assistance files. Y1 = first year identified; Y2 = second consecutive year identified. It is not shown for All Students, matching the source report.

Source. This trend view tracks ELA and Math only. The 2025 point on every chart and row below is the official RCOE/CDE Dashboard Group Report value for this district, transcribed verbatim. The 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2026 points are based directly on CDE's own CAASPP Smarter Balanced ELA/Math research files, individual grades 3–8, since no official ELA/Math Dashboard has been published for those years.
How those points are derived from the state files. Distance from Standard (DFS), in scale-score points: for each grade, DFS = mean scale score (from CDE's CAASPP research file for that year) − the official Level 3 ("Standard Met") minimum cut score for that grade and subject. The district/group DFS is the student-count-weighted average of DFS across all tested grades (3–8), which is mathematically equivalent to averaging every tested student's own DFS. Status colors (VH/H/M/L/VL) use CDE's official published DFS point thresholds for ELA and Math, grades 3–8, which differ from each other and from the grade 11 thresholds (not applicable here — Greenfield Union is K–8).
Limitations of these years. The official Dashboard also applies participation-rate and continuous-enrollment adjustments (e.g., excluding students not continuously enrolled, penalties for <95% participation) that determine exactly which students' scores count. Those adjustments are not reconstructed here, so the 2023/2024/2026 n and DFS can differ slightly from what an eventual official release would show — the 2025 point does not have this limitation since it is the official figure itself.
Not included. ELPI, Suspension Rate and Chronic Absenteeism appear on the Grid Report tab as official CDE Dashboard indicator data for 2022–2025, and Science for 2025, but none of them are tracked in this trend view, which is ELA/Math-only across all five years. Graduation Rate and CCI are always blank (K–8 district). DA determination is not calculated.

What this is. CDE's Dashboard assigns every student group's box color from a "Five-by-Five" grid: 5 Status levels (VL–VH) × 5 Change levels (Decreased Significantly – Increased Significantly). This view lays that grid out directly — one cell per Status/Change combination, for whichever year is selected above — instead of a table, using the same values already on the Grid Report tab (see cde.ca.gov's Five-by-Five reference).
Orientation. Rows and columns are always arranged so better is up and to the right, regardless of indicator. For ELA, Math, ELPI & Science (higher = better), Very High sits at top and Increased Significantly at right. For Suspension Rate & Chronic Absenteeism (lower = better), Very Low sits at top and Decreased Significantly at right.
Colors. Each dot's color is this dashboard's own official tier/five-by-five color for that group (the same color used on the Grid Report tab) — CDE's own indicator-file color where available (ELPI/Susp/Chronic/Science 2023–2025, and ELA/Math 2025, sampled from the official RCOE PDF), or this indicator's own CDE cut points applied to the value for every other ELA/Math year. A grey dot with a star (★) means CDE assigned no color because the group didn't meet its minimum n-size, matching the Grid Report tab. The light background shading in each cell is only a visual aid (better/worse blend) — it is not CDE's official cell-by-cell color table.
Years without a full grid. 2022 is the first year in this data, so there's no prior year to calculate Change from — Status values are listed in the table but no dots are plotted. For 2026, ELPI/Suspension Rate/Chronic Absenteeism/Science haven't been released yet, and ELA/Math has no same-basis prior year to compare against (2025 is official, 2026 is based on CAASPP files directly) — so ELA/Math Status values are listed but not plotted either.
Suppressed groups. A group with fewer than 11 tested students has no value at all for that indicator (CDE suppresses it) and isn't plotted — it's listed in the table on the left with an asterisk and its n only, same as the Grid Report tab.
